A New Season at EQuilibrium Maastricht: Eight Days of Movement, Connection and Inspiration
September has arrived in Maastricht, and the new season at EQuilibrium is already well underway.
After a hot summer, we are enjoying a warm and beautiful autumn in Maastricht and the Heuvelland. Our weekly classes are back in their rhythm, the dojo is filling up again, and it has been wonderful to welcome both familiar faces and many new people.
For us, that is what EQuilibrium Maastricht is really about: bringing people together through movement, martial arts, yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, meditation and bodywork.
Whether you have been training with us for years, have just moved to Maastricht, are studying here for a few months, or simply want to try something new, you are very welcome.
A new season, familiar faces and new beginnings
Our regular weekly programme is in full swing again. At the dojo you can find classes and activities including Tai Chi, meditation, Wu Shu, yoga and movement-based training, alongside courses in areas such as Chi Kung and massage.
Our self-defence course has also started, and we have already had the pleasure of welcoming both returning participants and new faces.
The atmosphere in the dojo is something we value deeply. Training together does not have to be about being the strongest, the most flexible or the most experienced person in the room. It is about learning, paying attention, moving, discovering and helping each other grow.
That philosophy is also reflected in the way we teach. At EQuilibrium, we work from the idea of Wu Wei — not forcing things against their natural course — and aim to give participants knowledge and skills that they can continue to use in their own development.
hEyQ Festival
The hEyQ Festival is at the heart of this special period.
It brings together teachers, practitioners and participants for a day of movement, discovery, exchange and connection. With different workshops and disciplines, there is an opportunity to try something completely new or spend more time with something you already enjoy.
EQ Spirit Week
During EQ Spirit Week, we open the doors to a series of inspiring workshops and practices. It is an invitation to slow down, move, learn and explore different ways of working with body and mind.
Healing Hands Mini Retreat
The Healing Hands Mini Retreat offers another perspective on wellbeing and energy work. Qi Gong, bodywork and mindful touch come together in an experience designed around connection and awareness.
At EQuilibrium, we enjoy bringing different traditions and approaches together. Our teachers have backgrounds in disciplines including martial arts, Tai Chi, yoga, massage and Qi Gong, and regularly share their knowledge through workshops and retreats.
Starting a new Chi Kung course
October also marks the start of a new Chi Kung course.
Chi Kung — also written as Qi Gong — uses simple, repeated exercises together with breathing, posture and softness of movement. The practice can be a wonderful way to develop greater awareness of your body, breathing and movement. Our approach includes exercises such as the Eight Brocades, elements of Da Cheng Chuan and walking meditation.
You do not need to be an experienced practitioner to begin.
A warm welcome to Maastricht locals, students and expats
One of the things we love most about being based in Maastricht is the mix of people who live, work and study here.
Maastricht is home to a vibrant international student community, long-term residents, newcomers and people from the surrounding Heuvelland. We want the dojo to be a place where all of these people can meet.
You don’t have to know anyone before you come. You don’t have to speak Dutch. And you don’t have to have previous experience.
Come as you are.
Whether you are looking for a regular yoga class in Maastricht, want to discover Tai Chi or Qi Gong, are interested in martial arts and self-defence, or simply want to meet people and try something different, there is a place for you at EQuilibrium.
Our dojo is located at Godefridus van Heerstraat 38 in Maastricht, in the building of Stichting Moetiara Maloekoe.
Come and train with us
The new season has started, but there is still plenty to discover.
We are looking forward to the coming months — to the regular weekly classes, to new courses, to workshops and, especially, to all the people we will meet along the way.
Locals from Maastricht and the Heuvelland, students, expats and newcomers: you are all welcome at EQuilibrium.
Come for a class. Join a workshop. Try something you have never done before. Or simply come and meet us.
We look forward to welcoming you to the dojo.
