Massage, Coaching & Personal Therapy in Maastricht

At EQuilibrium Maastricht, we offer personal treatments that combine traditional Eastern knowledge with modern movement science. Whether you are looking for massage therapy, bodywork, coaching, or movement-based therapy in Maastricht or the Euregio, our approach is centred on helping your body regain balance and supporting your own ability to recover and develop.

Abhyanga Massage

Abhyanga is one of the traditional massage techniques of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of natural healthcare that has been practised for more than 5,000 years. Ayurveda literally means “the knowledge of life” (Ayur = life, Veda = knowledge).

Abhyanga is a full-body oil massage that promotes deep physical and mental relaxation while stimulating the body’s natural cleansing processes. In Ayurvedic philosophy, the treatment activates the Agni, or digestive fire. This refers not only to physical digestion, but also to our ability to process emotions, experiences, and daily life.

Your appointment begins with a personal introduction over a cup of freshly prepared herbal tea. The tea is selected to support the Agni and, when appropriate, adapted to your individual constitution or the season. Both client and therapist drink the tea, creating a calm atmosphere and supporting a balanced exchange of energy before the massage begins.

The treatment itself consists of approximately 90 minutes of full-body massage using generous amounts of warm oil. Organic sesame oil is usually used as the base because, according to Ayurveda, edible oils place less strain on the liver while supporting its natural detoxifying function. When necessary, the oil is adjusted to suit allergies, hormonal changes, or seasonal needs.

Abhyanga is suitable for anyone seeking deep relaxation, improved body awareness, and a renewed sense of balance.

Martial Arts Acupuncture

Martial Arts Acupuncture is a unique treatment method developed from the healing traditions of classical Chinese martial arts. Unlike traditional acupuncture, no needles are used. Instead, the therapist works with highly refined finger techniques to stimulate the body’s natural ability to restore balance.

Historically, these methods were used to help injured warriors recover quickly between battles. As a result, the techniques had to be both effective and efficient. Today, the purpose remains the same: to create space within the body so that it can activate its own natural healing processes.

The Practitioner

A practitioner of Martial Arts Acupuncture learns to assess the body through clothing using highly developed sensitivity and manual techniques. During treatment, attention is given not only to physical structure but also to the body’s energetic flow, known as Chi in Chinese tradition and Prana in Sanskrit.

Because this approach requires years of personal practice, the therapist must continuously train both physically and energetically.

Kierty has practised martial arts since the age of four and continues to train today as a Grandmaster. During his twenty-year education in Classical Martial Arts, he also studied a wide range of Eastern and Western healing methods, which form the foundation of his treatments.

Your Role

The effectiveness of the treatment depends not only on the therapist but also on your own involvement. The more actively you practise and apply what you learn, the easier it becomes for your body to integrate the treatment.

Because every person develops differently, you decide together with the therapist how often treatment is appropriate.

Coaching with Kierty

Life often moves so quickly that we rarely take the opportunity to step back and look at situations from a wider perspective.

Drawing on decades of experience in classical martial arts, Kierty offers coaching sessions that help you view challenges from a different angle. Martial arts teach that there is rarely only one correct solution; instead, there are many possible ways forward.

Applying this perspective to everyday life often leads to new insights, greater clarity, and unexpected solutions to personal or professional challenges.

Duration: minimum 1 hour

Mensendieck Exercise Therapy & Yoga with Jeannette

Jeannette’s approach differs from traditional exercise therapy. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, she works together with you to understand how your body moves and how lasting improvement can be achieved.

She has consciously chosen not to work under contracts with Dutch health insurance companies. You will receive an invoice, which you may submit to your insurer depending on your policy.

A Collaborative Approach

In many cases, Jeannette works closely with Kierty.

Treatment often begins with a one-hour session of Martial Arts Acupuncture, during which Kierty identifies and releases physical or energetic restrictions, such as limited joint mobility, muscular imbalance, or energetic blockages.

This is followed by a one-hour Mensendieck Exercise Therapy and Yoga session with Jeannette, either immediately afterwards or on another day, depending on your preference.

Together, you will explore which exercises, posture corrections, breathing techniques, or movement patterns best support your recovery. The goal is not only to relieve symptoms but to give you the knowledge and practical tools to continue improving independently.

The exercises are practised together during the session, after which a personal video recording is made so you can continue safely at home.

You decide whether and when you would like to return for further treatment or guidance.
